Development and Certification of a Digital Tachograph Infrastructure

Our team participated in designing the overall architecture, specifying security protocols, preparing certification workflows, and conducting technical validation of the system.

One of the most technically detailed and standards-driven projects we have contributed to was the development of a digital tachograph infrastructure and its alignment with European Union security requirements and certification processes.

The project covered several critical domains: smartcard-based driver cards, company and workshop cards, cryptographic key management, certificate chains, and secure communication between devices and backend systems.

Our team participated in designing the overall architecture, specifying security protocols, preparing certification workflows, and conducting technical validation of the system. The core objective was to ensure that the tachograph ecosystem fully complied with all regulatory, technical, and cryptographic requirements — from national key centres to control systems and identity cards.

The project was uniquely engaging because of its scope and depth: it combined smartcard technology, PKI, standardised protocols and national supervisory architectures into one highly demanding, fully integrated system. The outcome was a solution that supports both road safety and fair competition, demonstrating how technically rigorous engineering can deliver tangible societal impact.
